Importance of Time Management Techniques

You should be thinking about the importance of time management techniques when trying to accomplish something that's significant for your future.

Learn to put off the everyday tasks and focus on your goals and how you can achieve them.

The everyday tasks will always be there, but the desire and work motivation for your dreams may not.

You need to be setting expectations and build up your momentum. Set a rhythm that is easy to fall into to get started on your dreams.

Follow your leadership philosophy and figure out what's important to you and use the following steps to get you started:

  • Start with finding three priority things that you want to get done.  Set a date that you want them completed by.  If three big things seem too much, then at least start with one.  You can move up to three later.

  • Make sure these three things are right for you.  That you can do them and they aren't beyond your capabilities.  If they are something you really don't know, you will probably not start them.  Begin with goals that you know you can accomplish.

  • Set aside time to do these tasks.  You should probably have a minimum of two hours a day to work on them.  The time that is left can be used to do the everyday tasks.  Make sure you keep this time just for your important tasks.  Don't let anyone interrupt you.

  • Don't let other fires get in the way of doing these tasks.  Put those things on hold and work on your important tasks.  The importance of time management is to make sure you aren't distracted and can concentrate on your task.  If something does distract you, then put a stop to it.  This is something you're not used to, so it will be hard at first.  As you build up momentum, it will get easier.

  • Make sure you take a break.  After 30 minutes, get up and stretch. Do something else for five minutes.  After about an hour, do something else for awhile.  When you come back to your task you'll be refreshed.  This time can be used for the everyday tasks or to just to sit with a cup of tea or to take a walk

  • Make sure you focus on only one major task at a time.  If you try to accomplish too much at once, you'll get no where.  You don't want to be a jack of all trades and master of none.

  • If your major goal turns out to be a bad idea, then drop it.  If it doesn't do what you want it to do, then it's not worth your time.

  • Protect your time for working on your dream.  Tell others that this is your time and you need it to get what you want done.  Don't feel bad about it.  They won't be happy at first, but they'll get used to it.

Importance of Time Management

The importance of time management is to work on every aspect of your dream.  Don't try to gloss over things to get them done.  Spend the time on the details.  This makes all the difference on whether you'll be successful or not.

Another important aspect is build upon your strengths.  If you try to work on your weaknesses, you'll feel discouraged and not much will get done.

If you're good at photography and that works into your vision, then focus on bringing that aspect out.  If your computer skills are low and you try to work on those, you'll be more easily frustrated and not much will get done.

If your weaknesses are holding you back, then find someone or something that will help you in that area.  Sometimes you might have to hire a consultant and other times you might find someone you know that can help you out in an area you don't have the expertise.

Eventually, you'll achieve success.  Many people don't want to do the work and expect success to come to them.  The importance of time management is to help you schedule things accordingly.  So, if you do the work, spend the time on the details, your vision will payoff.

One last aspect of the importance of time management is to leave time for yourself.  Once you build your momentum, and your vision is starting to take shape, make sure you don't over commit yourself to things that take you away from your dream.

You'll end up being overwhelmed, exhausted and back to where you won't have time to work on your dream.
